Summary
The Lightning Jar is an entrepreneurial center and co-working space located in historical downtown Bennington. Our space is one that encourages a culture of innovation and creativity. We help facilitate startups and growth of small businesses as well as offering events supporting entrepreneurial activities. The Media/Events Coordinator plays a critical role in the LJ's success in helping others make their business dreams come true. This is a unique opportunity for an energetic, detail-oriented and community-minded individual to be part of the development of a creative economy infrastructure in the Bennington County region. This is a volunteer position, with one-of-a-kind hands-on learning experiences, access to professional development opportunities and the ability to create a project portfolio.

Dates and hours: Volunteer position as needed to coordinate job tasks. Occasional after-hours work may be required for events.

Reports to: Chief Entrepreneurial Director
Primary Responsibilities:
- Produce events from conception to completion, which can include
- Member social “mixers”
- Business networking opportunity events
- Entrepreneurial engagement / advancement events
- Professional skill development events
- Community engagement events
- Work closely with Operating Committee
- Operating Committee or representative will approve all event ideas
- Operating Committee or representative will conceive ideas for consideration and development
- Work closely with other community organizations for cross-promotional opportunities
- Research to identify opportunities for events
- Survey members casually and formally
- Engage with community to determine “what’s missing” in Bennington
- Align event selection with LJ mission and vision
- Assist with recruiting event speakers and contributors
- Marketing Events/Managing Social Media
- Utilize internal and social media platforms: LJ Newsletter/Blog, LJ Facebook, LJ Twitter, LJ LinkedIn
- Utilize partner marketing, SYP, CCV, BCRC/BCIC, Bennington College, BAM
- Ensure event is added to LJ public calendars
- Manage all event attendee registration and contact database
- Ensure logistics of events to run smoothly and professionally
