About the Road Pitch
The FreshTracks Capital Road Pitch is Vermont's premier entrepreneurial pitch event. The event features a group of investors, entrepreneurs, coaches and mentors who travel the state by motorcycle and hear entrepreneurs pitch their business startup ideas.
2018 is Bennington's fifth year participating in the Road Pitch series, and we have developed a strong reputation for fielding competitive pitches.
How to Qualify
To qualify for the Bennington Road Pitch, entrepreneurs must be selected among 5 finalists from the preliminary round.
The preliminary round will be held on Thursday, July 27 from 5-8pm at The Lightning Jar coworking space in Bennington.
The format is 7 minutes to pitch, strictly timed, followed by 8 minutes of Q&A from the panelists. Pitches will be cut off after 7 minutes, so please be sure to time it appropriately. You can prepare a presentation on a laptop if you like, we’ll have a flatscreen monitor available with MacBook and HDMI connectors. You will need to advance your own slides.
The panelists will be three judges from the community, who will select 5 finalists to pitch at the full Road Pitch event.
Once you confirm your entry in the preliminary round, a schedule will be sent out a day or two before with your approximate pitch time. You should plan to arrive early to make sure everything is working with your audio/video, if you’re using any. Everyone is encouraged to attend the entire time to watch the other pitches, but that’s up to you. We'll have pizza, beer and juice/soda/water available at no cost.
The full Road Pitch event will be on Wednesday, August 2 from 10am-noon at the Bennington Museum, which will be the same format however the panelists will be the full contingent of Road Pitch riders (about 20-30 total), plus members of the public are invited to watch. The winner of that event will receive a $500 cash prize, and entry to the statewide “pitch-off” at Champlain College in October. The winner of the October pitch-off will be awarded a $4,000 cash prize plus a year of mentoring from the panel.
