The Lightning Jar, along with entrepreneur members Bob Pinsonneault and Scott Trafton, were featured in Steve Zind's recent story on coworking which aired last week on Vermont Public Radio. The story does a great job of illustrating why coworking is growing, and explaining the benefits of coworking communities.

While on vacation this week on Cape Cod, I had the opportunity to learn for myself why coworking spaces are becoming so popular. I had the misfortune to have a client push a deadline on me, so I had a few days of crunch time to get a deliverable completed but I had no Internet service where I am (which is why I go on vacation where I do, by the way). Coworking spaces mostly exist in high density urban areas, so options are limited in outlying parts of the country, where most of us tend to go on holiday. So I had to get creative and head into the closest town and track down a library, and a cafe until the library opened.
If a coworking space existed it would have been the perfect solution. Maybe something for the local Chamber to take a look at. In fairness, the Wired Puppy cafe and the Provincetown Public Library in downtown Provincetown, MA are perfectly suitable alternatives in a pinch if you're looking for a place to connect and get some work done out on the Cape. Please feel free to share your own coworking experiences with me, and I'd be happy to post them here so all of our members can learn from them. Standing by on 16... Dimitri Garder Director |
